Delhi launches solar portal with subsidies up to ₹1.56 lakh

The Delhi government has launched the ‘Delhi PM Surya Ghar’ registration portal to facilitate rooftop solar installations under the national PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. The initiative aims to provide solar systems to approximately 230,000 families.

Under the scheme, the central government provides a subsidy of up to ₹78,000 for solar systems up to 3 kW, which the Delhi government will match with an additional ₹78,000, bringing the total potential subsidy to ₹1.56 lakh per household. Domestic consumers using up to 400 units of electricity monthly may be eligible for systems up to 3 kW without upfront payment.

The program also includes provisions for group housing societies, with subsidies for common area installations increased from ₹2,000 to ₹11,000 per kW. For households with limited space, the government is encouraging systems up to 2 kW. Additionally, consumers in the 0–200 unit category may receive incentives linked to reduced electricity consumption following installation. Authorized vendors will be responsible for system operation and maintenance for the first five years.
