Delhi lawyers end strike following transfer of police officers

Lawyers across Delhi's district courts have ended their indefinite strike following the transfer of two police officers involved in a dispute at the Shahdara police station. The protest was triggered by allegations that Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Manasvi Vashishta and the Station House Officer (SHO) intimidated advocates by displaying a revolver and issuing threats.

The conflict originated on October 23, after advocate Lalit Bansal sustained serious head injuries in an assault. Lawyers reported that while police had assured them the accused would be arrested, the individuals were instead released. When advocates returned to the station to seek accountability, the alleged intimidation occurred.

The strike concluded after a high-level meeting between senior police officials and representatives from the Bar Council of Delhi. As part of the resolution, ACP Manasvi Vashishta was transferred to SPUWAC, and SHO Inspector Arun Kumar was transferred to the Delhi Police security unit. Judicial work is expected to resume normally following these administrative changes.
