Delhi leads India Electric Mobility Index 2025

The second edition of the India Electric Mobility Index (IEMI) 2025, released by NITI Aayog, shows Delhi retaining its position as the top-performing jurisdiction with a score of 84. Maharashtra and Karnataka followed in second and third place, respectively. Among large states, Maharashtra and Karnataka were identified as the leading performers.

In the Hilly and Northeastern States category, Manipur led with a score of 46. Jammu and Kashmir ranked 27th out of 36 states and Union Territories, scoring 31 points. While Jammu and Kashmir showed improvement from its 2024 ranking of 34th, the report noted zero scores for certain areas including governance initiatives, purchase incentives, and operational support. However, the territory saw significant improvements in charging infrastructure readiness and EV research and innovation status.

The index evaluates progress across three primary pillars: Transport Electrification Progress, Charging Infrastructure Readiness, and EV Research and Innovation Status.
