Delhi Master Plan 2047 officially becomes law

The Master Plan for Delhi–2047 (MPD 2047) has officially become law following its notification in the Gazette of India on August 20, 2026. Notified under the Delhi Development Act, 1957, the plan replaces the previous MPD-2021 and aims to manage a projected population of approximately 3.2 crore people by 2047.

Key components of the plan include the delivery of roughly 40 lakh additional homes through strategies such as colony redevelopment, transit-oriented development, land pooling, and in-situ slum rehabilitation. While certain provisions for South Delhi, such as floor area ratios and ground coverage, remain consistent with previous drafts, the notified text includes changes to the farmhouse belt regarding Green Development Area grades and reference plots.

To assist with the transition, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has released a comprehensive set of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on its website. These resources cover development control norms, land use, parking, and Transferable Development Rights (TDR). Additionally, the DDA has launched a digital feedback facility on its citizen services platform to allow stakeholders to submit suggestions regarding the new master plan.
