Delhi-NCR faces heavy rain and waterlogging as IMD issues red alert

Heavy rainfall in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) has caused widespread waterlogging and severe traffic congestion. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for the region as the southwest monsoon intensifies.

Significant flooding was reported in several areas, including Durga Vihar in South Delhi and near Deoli Road. In Noida, heavy water accumulation under the Sector-95 underpass disrupted movement, involving an incident where an ambulance became stuck near the Mahamaya flyover.

Major thoroughfares such as Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, ITO, Wazirabad Road, and the Delhi-Jaipur Highway experienced significant slowdowns. The IMD attributed the intense precipitation to multiple active weather systems across North India and warned that heavy rain could continue, posing risks of local flooding and further travel disruptions.
