Delhi Police and AAP clash over Durga Puja regulations in CR Park

A dispute has emerged between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Delhi Police regarding the management of Durga Puja celebrations in Chittaranjan Park (CR Park). AAP Delhi President Saurabh Bhardwaj has accused authorities of harassing organizers and disrupting festivities by reducing permitted pandal and loudspeaker hours from 12:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

Bhardwaj warned that the shortened operating window could lead to overcrowding and an increased risk of stampedes, as many attendees visit in the evening after work. He further alleged that police forcibly entered a pandal to disconnect electricity and damage equipment.

The Delhi Police denied allegations of harassment, stating that their actions were necessary to enforce court-mandated noise pollution regulations. Officials noted that organizers had continued playing loud music past permitted times despite previous meetings. The police emphasized their commitment to ensuring safe festivities through compliance with legal standards.
