Delhi Police arrest bus driver and conductor for alleged gang-rape of minor

Delhi Police have arrested a bus driver, Kuldeep, and a conductor, Sandeep, following the alleged gang-rape of a 16-year-old student inside a moving sleeper bus. The incident occurred on the night of August 4.

The victim, an 11th-grade student from Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, was traveling to Noida to visit a relative. Due to heavy rain and darkness, she mistakenly disembarked at Pari Chowk in Greater Noida. She flagged down an empty sleeper bus, which the crew claimed was heading to Noida Sector 63. During the approximately 47-kilometer journey toward Kashmere Gate, the victim alleged the conductor made obscene advances before both men sexually assaulted her and threatened her life.

The suspects abandoned the victim near the Ring Road at the Kashmere Gate bus terminal. The Delhi Commission for Women has since sought an action taken report from the police. The bus, which featured curtains that obscured visibility from the outside, has been seized for forensic examination. While the driver's family maintains his innocence, citing personal enmity following his father's recent murder, police have apprehended the suspects from a parking facility in Timarpur.
