Delhi Police arrest five following alleged assaults on protesters

Delhi Police has arrested five individuals following allegations of misconduct and physical assault against protesters in New Delhi. The demonstrations were held to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Authorities registered at least 10 First Information Reports (FIRs) at the Connaught Place and Kamla Market police stations between October 11 and October 14. The legal actions were initiated after videos circulated on social media appearing to show individuals attacking protesters. In one instance, a person named Gaurav was arrested, while efforts continue to locate his associates.

In another case, four people were arrested after a video went viral showing the alleged mistreatment of protesters. Reports indicate that in some footage, individuals were heard threatening to assault anyone speaking against the Prime Minister or the police.
