Protests against India's Chief Election Commissioner

Overview

The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) organized the ‘Lahara Do Tiranga’ protest at Connaught Place’s Central Park to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and protest alleged irregularities in voter list revisions. Although authorities denied permission for the rally, crowds gathered in violation of Section 163 of the BNSS, leading to the detention of approximately 150 individuals.

Delhi Police filed multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) following the event. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke was arrested for violating peace bond conditions and ignoring police directives, though he was later granted bail by a Special Executive Magistrate.

Subsequent legal actions were initiated after social media videos appeared to show individuals physically assaulting protesters. This led to the arrest of five people at the Connaught Place and Kamla Market police stations. In some recorded instances, individuals were heard threatening to assault anyone speaking against the police or the Prime Minister.
