Delhi Police file FIRs after Connaught Place protest

Delhi Police has filed multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) following the ‘Lahara Do Tiranga’ protest held at Connaught Place’s Central Park. The demonstration, organized by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), was intended to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and to protest alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists.

Authorities had denied permission for the rally, citing potential disruptions to law, order, and traffic. Despite notices and warnings, crowds gathered in violation of Section 163 of the BNSS. Police detained approximately 150 individuals during the event.

CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, who was arrested late Friday night for violating peace bond conditions and ignoring police directives, was granted bail by a Special Executive Magistrate on Saturday. His release was subject to specific court conditions and the fulfillment of bail bonds. This follows a previous detention of Dipke at Delhi Airport on October 10 regarding similar protest plans.
