Delhi Police hold Run for Martyrs to observe Police Commemoration Day
The Delhi Police organized a ‘Run for Martyrs’ from Nehru Park to the National Police Memorial to honor fallen personnel. The event is part of a series of commemorations for All India Police Commemoration Day, which is observed annually on October 21.
The date marks the anniversary of October 21, 1959, when ten policemen were killed in an ambush by Chinese troops at Hot Springs, Ladakh. To honor these sacrifices, Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently paid homage at the National Police Memorial in Chanakyapuri and flagged off a motorcycle rally involving approximately 90 riders from various states, union territories, and Central Armed Police Forces.
Other commemorative activities scheduled from October 22 to 30 include blood donation camps, police band displays, motorcycle rallies, and competitions for children. The National Police Memorial was dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2018.
