Delhi police pursue adult charges for minors in Swaroop Nagar gang rape and murder

Delhi police are pursuing legal action against three minors involved in the gang rape and murder of a teenage girl in the Swaroop Nagar area. Due to the extreme brutality of the crime, authorities plan to petition the Juvenile Justice Board to have the accused tried as adults. To confirm their exact ages, police intend to conduct bone ossification tests.

In a separate incident in the Sadar Bazar area, a 56-year-old man named Maqsood was arrested for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a minor. The victim had reportedly left her home to purchase stationery when she was lured into a shop, restrained, and assaulted. The accused has been sent to judicial custody.

The Swaroop Nagar investigation revealed that the victim was traveling in a tempo with the suspects when the assault occurred. Forensic evidence, including a specific tattoo on the victim's hand and items recovered from the vehicle, assisted police in identifying the victim and linking the suspects to the crime.
