Swaroop Nagar gang rape and murder investigation

Overview

Following the discovery of a teenage girl’s body in a field near Kushak Road on September 13, Delhi Police arrested one adult and three minors in connection with her gang rape and murder. Investigators determined the crime likely occurred around September 10 or 11. Police used CCTV footage from over 50 cameras to track a tempo used by the suspects, leading to the arrest of 19-year-old Shivam Ganesh.

Authorities have recovered knives, clothing, and the vehicle used in the crime. Due to the “extreme brutality of the crime,” police are petitioning the Juvenile Justice Board to have the three minors tried as adults. To confirm their ages for legal proceedings, officials intend to conduct bone ossification tests.
