Delhi Police seize 37 banned Chinese kite‑string reels, arrest two sellers
Delhi Police carried out a coordinated crackdown in the Dayalpur area of northeast Delhi, arresting two men and confiscating 37 reels of prohibited Chinese kite‑string (Manjha). The operation began on the night of Aug 1, when officers stopped a shop in Nehru Vihar and detained 23‑year‑old Mohd. Rihan, recovering six reels. Interrogation led to the arrest of 28‑year‑old Deepak from Indra Market, Ghaziabad, from whom 31 additional reels were seized. Police traced the supply chain to a alleged vendor, Tannu Garg of Murad Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, and are working to apprehend him. The banned Manjha, coated with abrasive glass, has been linked to serious injuries and fatalities, prompting its prohibition under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Environment (Protection) Act. The seized stock was logged in FIR No. 363/2026 at Dayalpur Police Station.
