Delhi police seize 800 kg of adulterated spices in factory raid

Delhi police and the food‑safety department raided an illegal spice‑manufacturing unit in Old Delhi’s Kharri Bawali area, confiscating about 801 kg of counterfeit powders, including turmeric, red chilli, coriander and garam masala. The seizure also included raw materials such as artificial colourants, rice fragments, pepper stalks and other substandard ingredients, as well as grinding machinery.

A 31‑year‑old suspect, Kamaljit from Mukundpur, was arrested. Samples have been sent for laboratory testing, and authorities warn that consumption of such adulterated spices can cause serious health problems, urging the public to check packaging and report suspicious products.
