Delhi police urged to halt detention and intimidation of peaceful protesters at Jantar Mantar
Spokesperson Saurav Das of the Cockroach Janata Party called on Delhi police to cease illegal arrests, intimidation and the creation of a siege atmosphere around the Jantar Mantar protest site. He warned that police have been stopping demonstrators from reaching the area, detaining them, and blocking entry of food, water, medicines and other essentials.
The party highlighted that for more than a month, thousands of students, parents, teachers and ordinary citizens have been gathering peacefully at Jantar Mantar to demand accountability over the paper‑leak case. The BJP also condemned the police, stating that the force has resorted to fear‑tactics, prevented volunteers from delivering supplies and restricted the free movement of protesters, actions it says are contrary to constitutional rights of peaceful assembly.
