Delhi raid seizes 50,000 tainted food packs, arrests seven in fraud case

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) Northern Regional Office, together with Delhi police, raided Westend Corporation Pvt. Ltd. in the Okhla industrial area of South‑West Delhi. Inspectors found the company systematically removing original manufacturing and expiry dates and re‑printing forged labels on a wide range of food and beverage products.

More than 50,000 compromised packs were confiscated, including international brands such as Thums Up, Fanta, Bournvita, Horlicks, Maggi noodles, ghee and Paper Boat juices. The seized items were valued at over Rs 20 lakh. Police also recovered printing and sealing machines, chemicals used to erase original markings, counterfeit barcodes and fake nutrition labels.

Seven individuals were arrested, among them the owner Darshan Singh Sachdeva and senior staff members, for allegedly sourcing expired or near‑expiry products at heavy discounts, altering their dates, and distributing them through retail outlets and e‑commerce platforms across India. The operation is being investigated for wider network involvement and potential public‑health violations.
