Delhi records lowest September minimum temperature since 2008

Delhi and the surrounding National Capital Region (NCR) have experienced a significant drop in temperatures due to recent rainfall and the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that the minimum temperature in Delhi reached 21 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, marking the lowest September minimum recorded in the capital since 2008.

Weather experts indicate that this sudden chill is a seasonal transition caused by a Western Disturbance and the monsoon's departure, rather than the early arrival of winter. While morning temperatures remain cool, maximum temperatures are expected to fluctuate between 31 and 35 degrees Celsius in the coming days.

The recent weather changes, including light rain and strong winds, have also contributed to improved air quality in the region. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) noted that the Air Quality Index (AQI) has recently fallen into the ‘satisfactory’ category.
