Delhi to enforce BS-VI vehicle restrictions from November 1

The Delhi transport department has deployed approximately 250 enforcement personnel to implement strict restrictions on vehicles that do not meet Bharat Stage VI (BS-VI) standards starting November 1. This move is part of the city’s winter action plan to combat rising air pollution levels.

Enforcement efforts will include 39 specialized teams stationed around the clock at 13 major toll plazas, such as DND, Rajokri-NH 48, Ghazipur, Singhu border, Tikri, and Badarpur. Additionally, 14 teams will work alongside district magistrates’ offices to monitor pollution hotspots and border areas.

Transport Minister Pankaj Singh stated that the government is committed to controlling vehicular pollution to ensure cleaner air. In preparation, authorities have already intensified actions against vehicles lacking valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates, issuing 4,572 challans in the past 14 days. Some experts have noted that the current directive specifically targets BS-IV passenger cars and commercial goods vehicles.
