Delhi Traffic Police Issue Advisory for Kanwar Yatra 2026 Road Closures

Delhi Traffic Police issued a traffic advisory ahead of the Kanwar Yatra 2026, which runs from 30 July to 11 August 2026. The pilgrimage will bring large numbers of devotees through the capital, prompting the police to impose road diversions, bans on heavy transport vehicles on key arteries such as GT Road, and a complete closure of GT Road between Apra and Yamuna Bridge from 9 August to 12 August. Expected congestion points include Najafgarh Firni Road, Rohtak Road, Pankha Road, Dev Prakash Shastri Marg, Nangloi‑Najafgarh Road and the Outer Ring Road.

Commuters are advised to check live traffic updates, use alternate routes, avoid parking on road shoulders, and favor public transport such as the metro. Travelers to New Delhi Railway Station should use the Paharganj side rather than the Ajmeri Gate side. Temporary Kanwar camps are being set up along the affected roads to manage the flow of pilgrims.
