Delhi Traffic Police Issue Advisory for Kanwar Yatra 2026 to Manage Road Congestion

The Delhi Traffic Police has released a traffic advisory ahead of the Kanwar Yatra 2026 pilgrimage. The notice targets major corridors in the northern part of the city, especially National Highway 44 (GT Karnal Road), the Outer Ring Road and adjacent service roads, where heavy movement of Kanwar Yatris is expected.

Commuters are urged to avoid these routes during peak hours and to use alternate passages such as the Urban Extension Road‑II (UER‑II), Narela‑Bawana and Burari Road. The advisory also bans Kanwar Yatris from the high‑speed UER‑II Expressway to maintain safety and uninterrupted traffic flow. Real‑time updates will be posted on variable message signboards throughout Delhi.

The measures aim to ensure the safe passage of thousands of devotees carrying holy Ganga water while minimizing disruption for other road users.
