Delhi traffic diversions and metro closures announced amid protests

The Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory for Monday, October 12, 2026, implementing traffic diversions at approximately 30 major locations across New Delhi and Central Delhi. These measures are in response to protests by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and marches by opposition groups, including the Congress party, to maintain law and order.

Key affected areas include Dhaula Kuan flyover, Mandi House, Connaught Place, Jhandewalan, and various roundabouts in Lutyens' Delhi. Commuters traveling to railway stations, airports, or inter-state bus terminals (ISBTs) are advised to allow extra travel time and avoid non-essential trips.

Additionally, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced that entry and exit at several metro stations—including Patel Chowk, Janpath, Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, and Barakhamba Road—will be closed from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM due to security reasons. While entry and exit are restricted, interchange facilities between lines will remain available.
