India advances regional transport and safety infrastructure projects

India is implementing several regional infrastructure and transport modernization initiatives. In Gujarat, Union Minister Amit Shah is set to inaugurate railway projects valued at over Rs 1,542 crore. These include the country’s first LNG-powered train, which can replace up to 40 per cent of diesel use, the Kavach automatic train protection system, and a new locomotive maintenance shed.

In Himachal Pradesh, the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) plans to induct 1,000 electric buses to modernize its fleet and promote sustainable mobility. This includes phasing out 366 older buses and establishing new electric bus depots in areas like Kangra.

In Delhi, the government is addressing public safety and labor welfare. The Public Works Department is planning to establish approximately 300 police posts at subways, flyovers, and foot overbridges to enhance security. Additionally, the Delhi Transport Minister is reviewing welfare concerns for contractual bus drivers, including health insurance, accident compensation, and timely salary payments.
