Delhi University registers 1.9  lakh UG applicants and adds one‑year postgraduate programmes

Delhi University received more than 1.9  lakh applications for undergraduate admissions for the 2026‑27 session, with 1.64  lakh candidates completing the preference‑filling phase. The registration opened on June 26 and will close on July 11, after which the first seat‑allocation list is scheduled for July 16. The university offers 71,624 seats across 73 programmes at 69 colleges, and introduced a virtual‑wallet system to streamline fee payments and upgrades.

In the same admission cycle, the university launched 46 one‑year postgraduate programmes for students who have completed the four‑year UG curriculum under the Undergraduate Curriculum Framework 2022. These new courses provide over 1,100 seats and raise the total postgraduate intake to about 14,600 seats, while existing two‑year programmes continue unchanged. Admissions to the one‑year programmes are merit‑based and align with the National Education Policy 2020.
