India 2026 DU and CUET admissions progress
Overview
The 2026 undergraduate admission cycle at Delhi University (DU) and other Indian institutions has progressed through multiple stages of testing and seat allocation. The process began with the National Testing Agency (NTA) releasing CUET UG 2026 admit cards in May, followed by exams held from May 11 to June 7. Following the release of CUET UG results in late June, DU opened its Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal. The first undergraduate seat allotment list was released on 16 July, and a second round of allocations followed on 25 July.
In mid-August, DU released specific schedules for postgraduate and BTech admissions. For CSAS-PG, the second spot round application window was set for August 14 to August 16, with seat allotment expected on August 19. BTech admissions through the Faculty of Technology included schedules for a Mid-Entry window, Spot Admission Round 2, and Round 2 for CW and Ward Quotas.
To address remaining vacancies, nine affiliated colleges, including Shyam Lal, Kalindi, and Rajdhani, were authorized to offer merit-based admissions using Class 12th scores. Following three regular admission rounds, DU reported 13,433 undergraduate seats remaining vacant across 1,160 college-course combinations. High vacancy rates were noted in B.A. (Hons.) Hindi, B.Com, and B.A. (Hons.) Sanskrit. The university has since invited students to apply for these remaining positions through a spot round via the CSAS portal. Vacancies persist in prominent institutions such as Hansraj, Hindu, and Shri Ram College of Commerce.
