Delhi education department allocates 8,976 seats in second EWS, DG, CWSN lottery

The Delhi Directorate of Education released the second computer‑generated lottery for the 2026‑27 academic year, awarding seats to 8,976 children from economically weaker sections (EWS), defrayed grant (DG) and children with special needs (CWSN). Selections cover 3,420 EWS/DG and 190 CWSN pupils in Nursery, 1,210 EWS/DG and 107 CWSN in Kindergarten, and 3,856 EWS/DG and 193 CWSN in Class 1. Parents can view results on the DoE website and must submit required documents before the deadline.

Meanwhile, Delhi University reported a record number of applicants for its undergraduate courses, with more than 2.73 million candidates signing up on the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal and over 2.06 million entering their college and programme preferences. The university plans to release the first seat‑allocation results on 16 July 2026.

In addition, Jawaharlal Nehru University opened admissions for its 2026‑27 undergraduate programmes, shifting to CUET UG scores for all courses except B.Tech, which will use JEE Main scores. Registration is open until 22 July, and the university will follow the government reservation policy for seat distribution.
