Delhi University student groups ramp up DUSU election campaigns
Student organizations at Delhi University are intensifying their campaigns ahead of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections. Major groups, including the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), and the All India Students’ Association (AISA), are actively engaging with freshers to gather input for their election manifestos.
Campaign strategies have shifted toward digital engagement, with Gen Z students utilizing social media platforms like Instagram reels and memes to highlight campus grievances. Issues such as hostel shortages, infrastructure, water access, and garbage management are being turned into viral content to drive political narratives.
The NSUI is running a ‘My Campus, My Manifesto’ initiative to address concerns regarding Wi-Fi, canteen food, and regular classes. Meanwhile, the ABVP is conducting one-on-one meetings under its ‘My DU, My Manifesto’ campaign. The AISA is focusing its outreach on the impact of the National Education Policy (NEP) and the four-year undergraduate programme (FYUP), while also attempting to introduce first-year students to a ‘progressive political culture’ on campus.
