Delhi University Students' Union faces oath delay and legal scrutiny

The newly elected Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) office-bearers may skip a formal oath-taking ceremony as the university administration prioritizes student accommodation issues. This follows a building collapse in Satya Niketan in early September that resulted in seven deaths, including several students, prompting demands for safety audits of private paying guest (PG) accommodations.

In a separate legal development, the Delhi High Court has sought a response from Delhi University regarding allegations that winning candidates violated a court ban on victory processions. The court expressed concern over the display of “muscle and money power” during celebrations. The bench directed the petitioner to include all relevant evidence in a dossier regarding these alleged violations.
