Delhi vehicle owners rally against E20 petrol rollout

Industrialist and TV personality Tahseen Poonawala announced a large protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar against the government's plan to introduce E20 petrol – a blend containing 20 % ethanol. Protesters, representing ordinary vehicle owners, claim the new fuel reduces mileage, causes engine trouble and raises maintenance costs. Technical analysis confirms that modern BS4 and newer cars equipped with closed‑loop fuel systems can handle E20 with only a 2‑3 % drop in fuel economy, while older BS3 or carbureted models may face seal and start‑up issues.
