Deliblatska Peščara wildfire prompts helicopter response in Serbia
A wildfire broke out in the Deliblatska Peščara nature reserve in Serbia, covering more than five hectares of pine forest and low vegetation. Thirteen firefighters from Vršac, Pančevo, Bela Crkva, Kovin and Alibunar, together with eight members of a volunteer fire brigade, were deployed to combat the blaze. Strong winds hampered the effort, leading authorities to enlist a Ministry of Interior “Super Puma” helicopter for aerial suppression. No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported.
The operation continued throughout the day, with crews monitoring the fire lines to prevent further spread. Officials indicated that the fire was under control and that the affected area would be assessed for ecological impact after the incident.
