On 25 July 2026 a wildfire broke out in Serbia’s Deliblatska Peščara reserve, burning over five hectares. Thirteen municipal firefighters and eight volunteers fought the blaze while the interior ministry deployed a Super Puma helicopter for aerial water drops. The fire was contained without damage to structures or injuries, and a post‑incident ecological assessment was planned.

A few days later Serbia responded to a severe wildfire emergency in Spain. Acting through the EU Civil‑Protection Mechanism, a H‑215 Super Puma equipped to carry four tonnes of water and a five‑person crew was flown to the Castile and León region near Navalcarnero, about eight hours after departure. The mission also included 37 firefighter‑rescuers, three medical team members and 16 vehicles, joining an international aerial effort that comprised nine aircraft (seven helicopters and two Canadair water‑bombers). Minister of Internal Affairs Ivica Dačić highlighted the deployment as an example of Serbia’s solidarity and its expanding emergency‑response capacity. The assistance follows Serbia’s record of 39,757 emergency operations and 1,492 rescues in the previous year.
