Delta State Police arrest 202 suspects in Asaba brothel and drug raid
Delta State Police announced an intelligence‑led operation in Asaba, the capital of Nigeria's Delta State, that resulted in the arrest of 202 suspects – 102 men and 100 women – on Saturday, July 5, 2026. The detainees were charged with operating brothels, possession and sale of suspected illicit drugs and related offences.
The raid, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police for Operations and supported by the State Intelligence Department, also saw five vehicles, ten tricycles and ten motorcycles impounded for violating traffic regulations and state bans. Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe and Commissioner Yemi Oyeniyi said the action is part of a sustained crackdown on criminal activity and urged the public to provide timely information to help deny criminals any space to operate.
