Dementia support services expand in Murcia region
In the Murcia region of Spain, associations dedicated to Alzheimer's and dementia are expanding their support and infrastructure. The Association of Friends and Relatives of People with Alzheimer's and other Dementias of Yecla (AFAY) has inaugurated new facilities on España Street to host a Personal Autonomy Promotion Service (Sepap).
This expansion includes a new social agreement model supported by the Murcian Institute of Social Action (IMAS), with regional funding exceeding 250,000 euros. This initiative will provide approximately 100 new places specifically for elderly individuals, extending a service model that was previously reserved for people with disabilities.
Meanwhile, the Cieza Association of Relatives of People with Alzheimer's and other Dementias (ACIFAD) has concluded its activities for World Alzheimer's Day. Under the slogan ‘The NO is no longer the answer’, the association organized various awareness and advocacy initiatives, including literary contests, community events, and solidarity campaigns to support those living with dementia and their families.
