The Democratic National Committee placed its Washington, D.C., headquarters as collateral for a $15 million line of credit to fund off‑year election activities, the largest such loan in recent cycles. The loan was secured despite the party’s failure to disclose the collateral in filings with the Federal Election Commission, raising concerns about the DNC’s financial strain.

In February 2025, the DNC fell victim to an email fraud scheme in which a message impersonating Chair Ken Martin prompted a staffer to transfer nearly $29 000 to scammers. The incident, revealed through interview and federal records, underscores ongoing cash‑flow challenges within the party’s operations.
