Democratic Republic of Congo civil society urges action on security and Ebola response
In the Mudusa grouping of Sud‑Kivu, the Nouvelle Dynamique de la Société Civile (NDSCI) reported that armed men attacked the village of Buhozi on the night of 8 July, looting homes and stealing money, phones and other valuables. The group said similar incursions had occurred earlier in the month in Cimpwiji and called on local, provincial and national authorities to open investigations, increase night patrols, strengthen village security committees and deploy additional security forces to the area.
In Ituri, the civil‑society coordination framework warned that the joint Ebola response plan, budgeted at USD 510 million for June–November 2026, was only 35 % funded by mid‑June. The report highlighted delayed health‑worker payments, insufficient treatment centres and low contact‑tracing coverage, and urged the government and partners to set up a provincial monitoring committee, ensure regular payment of health‑worker incentives, expand treatment facilities, conduct an independent audit of fund management and improve contact tracing. Health Minister Roger Kamba pledged to address these concerns.
