Denby pottery firm to close all UK stores

Denby, the Derbyshire-based pottery company founded in 1809, is closing all of its UK stores following its entry into administration earlier this year. The company cited rising costs as a primary factor in its financial struggles.

All retail locations, including the flagship Denby Pottery Village, are scheduled to cease trading on Sunday, August 30. The closures are expected to result in the loss of approximately 600 jobs. To clear remaining inventory, the firm is holding a closing-down sale with items priced from £2 and discounts reaching up to 60%.

While the retail stores are closing, joint administrator Tony Wright of FRP stated that the Denby group of companies will continue to trade under a different name.
