Denby pottery retail store closures

Overview

Denby, a Derbyshire-based pottery company founded in 1809, is closing its UK retail stores following its entry into administration earlier this year. The company attributed its financial difficulties to rising costs.

Initially, the firm scheduled all retail locations, including the flagship Denby Pottery Village, to cease trading on Sunday, August 30. However, due to high consumer demand and increased footfall during a closing-down sale, stock sold faster than anticipated, leading to the premature closure of all remaining stores on Saturday, August 29.

The closures are expected to result in the loss of approximately 600 jobs. While retail operations are ending, joint administrator Tony Wright of FRP stated that the Denby group of companies will continue to trade under a different name.
