Dengue Cases Prompt Night Mosquito Disinfestation in Legnano and Recanati, Italy

In Lombardy, a suspected dengue infection reported by ATS Milano led the municipality of Legnano to engage a specialist firm for nighttime mosquito disinfestation. Operations started at 23:00 and ran until 02:00, covering streets between Legnano and Castellanza where adult and larval Aedes mosquitoes were treated. Local police and civil‑protection volunteers informed residents and assisted the crew, while authorities asked the public to keep windows closed, protect pets and avoid outdoor areas during and after treatment.

In Marche, the regional health authority confirmed a dengue case in a resident of Recanati. Mayor Emanuele Pepa ordered a similar night‑time spray from 23:00 to 05:00 on June 11‑14, targeting the area bounded by Via Loreto, Via Beato Benvenuto and Via Offagna. Residents were instructed to keep windows shut, refrain from using air‑conditioning or ventilation systems, and stay indoors while the area is treated, as part of efforts to prevent further spread of the disease‑carrying tiger mosquito.
