Dengue cases rise in Guanajuato while Guaymas reports containment
Health authorities in Moroleón and Uriangato, Guanajuato, have activated alerts following a more than 30% increase in dengue cases over the last two weeks. The total number of infections in these municipalities has reached 67, with Moroleón reporting 34 cases and Uriangato reporting 33. Local health officials are intensifying prevention campaigns, including fumigation, debris removal, and the “Lava, tapa, voltea y tira” (Wash, cover, turn, and throw) strategy, to prevent a larger outbreak. No deaths have been reported in these areas.
In contrast, Guaymas, Sonora, has successfully contained its dengue spread. After months of rising numbers, only four new non-severe cases were recorded in the last two weeks, a significant decrease from previous weeks where 15 or more cases were reported weekly. Guaymas has accumulated 210 confirmed cases to date. Local officials attributed this containment to immediate government intervention and health brigades conducting fumigation and larvicide treatments following recent heavy rains and hurricane activity.
