Regional health authorities launch dengue prevention measures
Health authorities in several regions are intensifying efforts to combat the spread of dengue fever and the Aedes aegypti mosquito.
In Cojedes, Venezuela, the State Directorate of Environmental Health implemented an integrated management plan in the Girardot municipality. Technical teams conducted fumigation and larvae treatment in the Reinoso sector, inspecting 56 homes to protect approximately 195 residents. Officials have urged citizens to eliminate standing water in containers to support these sanitation efforts.
In Argentina, the City of Buenos Aires has launched its annual prevention season, focusing on Comuna 10. This area, which includes neighborhoods such as Floresta and Villa Luro, has historically high rates of mosquito presence and dengue cases. Residents are encouraged to report potential breeding sites through official channels, including the 147 helpline and WhatsApp.
Additionally, concerns have been raised in Guayaquil, Ecuador, where overflowing canals are identified as a potential risk factor for increasing dengue transmission.
