Latin American health authorities intensify mosquito-borne disease prevention

Public health authorities across Latin America are intensifying efforts to combat mosquito-borne diseases and strengthen immunization coverage.

In Argentina, several regions have launched comprehensive dengue prevention campaigns. In La Matanza, the local government is implementing a plan that includes mosquito breeding site elimination, targeted fumigation, and free vaccination. Similarly, in Corrientes, vaccination points have been established for individuals aged 4 to 59, with officials noting that the vaccine helps reduce the risk of severe complications and hospitalization. In La Banda, authorities are coordinating second doses for those who completed their initial schedule.

In Venezuela, the Cedeño municipality is conducting fumigation and educational sessions to prevent the spread of dengue. In Mexico, vaccination efforts have been extended to include the triple viral vaccine (measles, mumps, and rubella) for populations aged 10 to 49 to increase regional coverage.

In Santa Fe, Argentina, the #ModoVacuna program is utilizing mobile units to provide free vaccines against influenza, pneumonia, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) to high-risk groups and pregnant women.
