Dengue trends vary in Brazilian municipalities

Health authorities in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, report varying dengue trends across different municipalities. In Mairiporã, reported cases fell by 56.2% between January and August 2026 compared to the same period in 2025. The municipality recorded 633 notifications this year, down from 1,444 in the previous year, with no deaths reported in either period.

In contrast, Campinas is facing a significant outbreak, with 4,131 confirmed cases since January 2026. While no deaths have been recorded in the city so far, the Municipal Health Secretariat has placed 32 neighborhoods on maximum alert due to high transmission risks. These high-risk areas are spread across all six health regions of the city, driven by high mosquito infestation indices and rising case numbers. Health officials warn that increasing temperatures and rainfall could further exacerbate the situation.
