Dune: Part Three ticket presales cause major website crashes

Warner Bros. has launched a major ticket presale for ‘Dune: Part Three’, the concluding chapter of Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi trilogy. The rollout includes early IMAX 70mm screenings, digital IMAX, and premium large formats like Dolby Cinema. The film, based on Frank Herbert’s ‘Dune Messiah’, is scheduled for a wide theatrical release on December 18, 2026.

The high demand for tickets caused significant technical issues for major distributors. AMC Theatres reported that traffic for the sale was three times higher than the launch of ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, leading to app crashes and website outages. AMC CEO Adam Aron apologized for the glitches, stating that while the volume was staggering, the experience was ‘intolerable and inexcusable’ for customers. Fandango also experienced long digital queues and server errors.

To coincide with the sales, a new teaser trailer was released, providing a glimpse of the character Edric, a Spacing Guild Navigator. The film features a returning cast including Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, and Jason Momoa, alongside newcomers such as Robert Pattinson and Anya Taylor-Joy. The production utilized 65mm film and includes approximately 71 minutes of footage shot specifically for IMAX 70mm.
