Denis Young Kim arrested for attempted murder of elderly man in Osasco

Denis Young Kim, a 43-year-old merchant, surrendered to police in São Paulo following an investigation into the attempted murder of 79-year-old José Ricardo dos Santos. The incident occurred in Osasco, on the outskirts of São Paulo, after the victim reportedly touched Kim’s vehicle with a crutch while walking.

Security footage captured Kim delivering a flying kick to the elderly man’s back and subsequently stepping on his head. The victim, who has a visual impairment and uses crutches, was treated by emergency services and later discharged from the hospital.

Kim had been a fugitive since a temporary arrest warrant was issued. He surrendered at a police station in the Campo Grande neighborhood accompanied by his lawyer. He is currently facing charges of attempted qualified homicide for a futile motive.

Records indicate that Kim was previously convicted in 2021 for the homicide of another elderly man, Aldemir Ribeiro Pontes, involving a crossbow. He had been serving that sentence in an open regime since September 2025 before the recent incident.
