Denkyira Traditional Council demands removal of DCE and police commander

The Denkyira Traditional Council has called for the removal of Isaac Nsiah, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Upper Denkyira West, and Central North Regional Police Commander DCOP Abraham Acquaye. During a press conference in Dunkwa-on-Offin, the Council accused both officials of undermining the authority of the Denkyira Stool and meddling in chieftaincy affairs.

The Council alleged that police prevented the paramount chief, Odeefuo Boa Amponsem IV, and his subjects from performing sacred Akwasidae river rites. They claimed that while the Denkyirahene was blocked, police provided armed protection to the Dunkwa Odikro, Nana Obeng Nuakoh III, at the same location.

Spokesperson Barima Siaw Panin II stated that the actions of Nsiah and Acquaye represent a deliberate erosion of traditional dignity. The Council warned that the continued presence of these officials could threaten peace and stability within the Denkyira State, urging the government to intervene to prevent further tension.
