Denmark: 800,000 citizens missing out on commuting tax deductions
Approximately 800,000 citizens in Denmark have not updated their preliminary tax assessments, causing them to miss out on improved commuting deductions intended to offset rising fuel prices.
Tax Minister Jakob Engel Schmidt has urged motorists to update their information on the Skat website to receive these funds immediately rather than waiting for the annual tax assessment next year. For a typical commuter, the unclaimed amount could range between 2,500 and 3,000 DKK, depending on the specific driving route. Currently, only 200,000 citizens have updated their details to secure ongoing payments.
