Denmark and Greenland partner to address housing crisis
Denmark and Greenland have agreed to cooperate on addressing the extensive and costly housing issues facing many Greenlandic homes. A joint working group has been established to determine the necessary steps to modernize the worn-down housing stock, with a deadline set for the spring of 2027.
Experts from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) have expressed concerns regarding the scale of the task. While the partnership is a positive step, researchers suggest that solving the diverse and multi-billion dollar housing problems will require a fundamentally new approach to renovation and significantly more funding than current agreements may provide.
