Denmark Commits to UK-France Strait of Hormuz Shipping Protection Mission
Denmark's parliament has given broad support for the country to join the Multinational Military Mission for the Strait of Hormuz (MMMSoH), a coalition led by the United Kingdom and France aimed at protecting civilian shipping and keeping vital supply chains open.
Defence Minister Jeppe Bruus said Denmark will contribute interpreters, drone capabilities, staff officers and cyber support. Anne H. Steffensen, CEO of Danish Shipping, welcomed the move, noting Denmark's status as a major maritime nation and its responsibility to secure key shipping routes. The government will fast‑track a parliamentary resolution to formalise participation.
Danish Shipping also urged that the mission's mandate consider the Red Sea, where Houthi attacks have forced vessels to detour around Africa, and noted the decision follows a recent US‑Iran framework and IMO plans for stranded seafarers.
