Skovsporet student village in Denmark completed using 3D printing

The Skovsporet student housing development in Holstebro, Denmark, has been completed, marking a significant large-scale application of 3D concrete printing technology in residential construction. Designed by SAGA Space Architects and MS+ Arkitekter, the 1,650-square-meter project consists of 36 apartments organized into six low-rise clusters that function as a small village rather than a traditional dormitory.

Each apartment, ranging from 39 to 50 square meters, includes a kitchen, study area, living room, bathroom, and sleeping area. The construction utilized a COBOD BOD3 printer and incorporated low-carbon materials, including FUTURECEM cement and a cement-free material that reduces CO2 emissions by 84% for specific elements like bicycle sheds.

The development was integrated into the existing landscape to preserve 90% of the site's mature trees. The interiors combine 3D-printed concrete with cork panels, glass, and traditional wooden roof structures, using large skylights to maximize natural light. Residents are expected to begin moving in this September.
