Denmark faces rising cybersecurity concerns and AI-driven threats

Concerns regarding cybersecurity and digital resilience are rising in Denmark. Experts suggest that local communities should establish independent networks and servers to maintain essential functions if national digital systems fail due to cyberattacks.

Major AI companies, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and Microsoft, have issued a joint appeal warning that AI-supported attacks on critical infrastructure—such as hospitals, waterworks, and internet services—are expected to become more frequent and sophisticated. While AI can be used to identify software vulnerabilities, as demonstrated by Anthropic’s ability to find significant flaws in Firefox, there are growing questions regarding how long such capabilities will remain under the control of major AI firms.

Public anxiety is also increasing among Danish citizens. A survey conducted by Norstat for Samsung indicates that 68 percent of Danes fear losing access to their accounts if hacked, while 66 percent are concerned about the theft of financial information. Additionally, 64 percent fear identity theft, reflecting a shift in perception where cyber threats are viewed as direct risks to personal finances and daily digital life.
